WE… IMVF…

We believe in the joint effort of millions of people around the world to promote development amongst the poorest populations.
We focus our intervention on the Portuguese-speaking countries and assume the mission of promoting socio-economic and cultural development.
We operate throughout the CPLP – Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries -, working as a matter of priority on Development Cooperation and Development Education; innovative in our work on Decentralised Cooperation with municipalities and we also receive occasional requests to grant Humanitarian Aid in countries where we have been operating.
In Sao Tome and Principe… Health for All…
We are in Sao Tome and Principe since 1988 where we have been developing the Health for All Project, an innovative program of recognized public interest by the Ministries of Health of Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe and considered as Good Practice for Sustainable Development by the United Nations.
The projects Primary Care: autonomy and effectiveness and Specialised Care and Telemedicine, under the Programme Health for All, constitute an integrated strategy that has allowed greater equity in access to healthcare and a significant improvement of the health indicators in the country.
SAO TOMEANS ARE THE ENGINE TO THEIR OWN DEVELOPMENT…
Capacity building, participation and the feeling of appropriation by local communities are crucial elements in any process of economic or social change. The decision of strengthening national human resources is therefore central in what concerns the fight against brain drain and immigration. In that sense, all the intervention is marked by the joint definition of priorities and strategies of development assuming, in this context, great importance the relation of great proximity and trust with the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in Sao Tome and Principe. The responsibility of changing and progress shall belong to local actors, direct partners in the development of the country that, through mechanisms of Good Governance, ensure the monitoring and follow up of change.
The strategy of intervention is, since its beginning, in constant harmony with the public policies and strategies in the domain of health, as well as in harmony with the best international practices, drawn by WHO – World Health Organization, to healthcare in Developing Countries.
The Health for All Programme is an innovative practice of health development in an African Portuguese speaking country from which important lessons can be learned in the area of management and differentiated offer of services at the level of basic health units. This Program may be a paradigm to change health systems, particularly in countries where social exclusion, poverty and geographic isolation lack of necessary conditions hinder access to healthcare.
